The current contract and permitted extensions of contract period come to an end on the 31st December 2018. The existing contract has in general worked very well and has provided the Highways team the necessary flexibility and access to top up resources vital to deliver the service.
The format of the current contract has been reviewed and modified to suit new circumstances as necessary.
The tender has attracted a wide spread of companies from the traffic management sector.
The new contract is intended to start on the 1st January 2019 and is for a two year period.
The contract can be extended to a total of four years in two one year increments.
The quality submission of Colas is significantly better than other tenderers.


To appoint Colas for the Temporary Traffic Management contract 2019. This represents a re-appointment for Colas who were the current provider in 2018.

Alternative options considered:

The option of whether to accept or not Variant Tenders was considered with Central Procurement prior to issuing the tender documents. It was decided not to permit Variant Tenders.
