To increase highway safety and reduce the accident rate.
All County roads that are assigned the national speed limit have been reviewed to identify those with a personal injury accident rate higher than the national average. Ullesthorpe Road, Ashby Parva and Mere Lane, Bittesby have been identified to have a total number of accidents above the national average.

Decision:

To reduce the existing national speed limit (60mph) on Ullesthorpe Road, Ashby Parva and Mere Lane, Bittesby including the crossroads (Ullesthorpe Road/Lutterworth Road/Mere Road and Bitteswell Road/Ullesthorpe Road) to 50mph.
