Purpose:

All County roads that are assigned the national speed limit have been reviewed to identify those with an accident rate higher than the national average. As a result of this review Long Lane, Wood Lane and Belvoir Road have been identified to have a total number of accidents above the national average. Therefore, in order to increase general safety and reduce the accident rate, the speed limit will be reduced from 60mph to 50mph.

Decision:

To implement the order to reduce the existing speed limit along Long Lane, Wood Lane and Belvoir Road from national speed limit to 50mph.

Alternative options considered:

The scheme has been subject to public consultation and one objection was received.
