Reducing the national speed limit on Fenn Lanes & Wharf Lane, Sutton Cheney

Decision Maker: Director of Environment and Transport

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

All County roads that are assigned the national speed limit have been reviewed to identify those with an accident rate higher than the national average. As a result of this review, Fenn Lanes and Wharf Lane have been identified to have a total number of accidents above the national average. Therefore, in order to increase general safety and reduce the accident rate, the County Council proposed to reduce the speed limit from 60mph to 50mph.

Decision:

To reduce the current national speed limit on Fenn Lanes and Wharf Lane, Sutton Cheney.

Alternative options considered:

The scheme has been subject to public consultation of which no objections were received. Two comments were received requesting the investigation of an even lower speed limit on Wharf Lane; these have been dealt with as separate requests.

Details of any conflict of interest declared by any member of the executive or other member consulted which relates to the decision: None.

Equalities and Human Rights Implications: None.
